SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is designed to confirm if an email message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a given domain will stop the forging of emails created with the domain. In simple words: enabling this feature for a domain makes a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are allowed to send e-mail messages from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks whether it originates from an approved server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's rejected. Thus nobody will mask an email address and make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The option is available in the Emails section of our cutting-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all it takes to activate it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down menu and to type in the hostnames plus the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the email servers that will be certified to send emails from your emails. As an additional option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only when it has our MX records, in other words if our servers handle the e-mail addresses for it, not a third-party provider. This option will provide you with the top standard of security, but it is not applicable in case only your website is on our servers while the emails for the domain are managed in another place. Regardless, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you host your domains in a semi-dedicated server account from us, you are able to take advantage of the SPF protection feature as part of the standard group of services that you'll receive with this type of hosting. Enabling the protection involves just a few simple steps in the Hepsia Control Panel, thus even in case you haven't used this type of function before, you will not have any kind of issues. Using a really time and effort saving interface, you will just need to input the details of the mail server that will be permitted to send out messages from your e-mail addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). Once the newly created record propagates, nobody will be able to forge any e-mail address for that particular domain and send email messages from a server different from the one you have typed in. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, but when we take care of your email messages, you are able to activate an additional level of security by picking an option that e-mails can be send out from addresses @your-domain.com only in case the domain uses our MX records. Our tech support staff will be able to help you 24/7 if you have any questions about this service.
